Cherry Tree Branch

Last week I bought a branch of a cherry tree in the hope , that soon there will be some nice cherry blossoms in our flat brightening up the atmosphere. And see its starting ! Its already green. Oh, I’m looking so forward to it. The weather today is really nice and it looks like the winter is gone now. The birds sing and there is the warmth of the sun coming back slowly.

At the meantime I learn for java coding exam and sew a bit at my haori. Some more days and that will be finished.
Yesterday we were in Hamburg and I was voted as vice president of our north German iaido association. I’m very proud.

JEC and Brussels

I wanted to go to a european championship as long as I know there is one and I have a chance to  go there. Well, I knew there was one in Iaido and after the Seminar in Villingen I knew there was one in Jodo and I was happy when I they told me I could go if I wanted to. And on top of that I was able to take my first dan examination. That made my decision fix, that I will go. The JEC was in Brussels so I asked my friend, if she would like go on holiday with me there. We didn’t go on vacation last year and there was no plan for this year, so she said yes. The planning was than , that I go first and do my JEC and than she comes afterwards she comes and we do a lot of sightseeing there. We tried to do planning and achieved some results, but it was a pain in the ass, because the are not much information available on the internet about Brussels tourists attractions.
Because of the bad timing I had to take a ticket for Thursday. The JEC Hotel was to expensive to book for one more night, so I booked a different one on in the city for the first night. After these two night of the Championship I booked another one in the city, just on the other side of the road from the hotel were me and my friend would be staying. Why? Cause that hotel had only double rooms, which were to expensive for one person. Well, for me. So I saw 4 different hotels in very different looks. About the championship. It was lots of fun, lots of stress and with good results. I passed my examinations and I got out of my pool but wasn’t able win the after that. BUT I got out of the pool, means, that I won 2 out of 3 fights. YEAH. Brussels was nice, sometimes, and really dirty and old, sometimes. We saw the Atomium, Manekin Piss, lots of churches, some art décor houses. 

two weeks two seminars

So here we go. The first weekend seminar was not spectacular but very nice. Momiyama did some examination preparation for Jodo with me. And Kay got some extra Jodo training, too. The Weekend after, I went with Frank together to the Netherlands. The Seminar was in a town close to Ammersfort. Elaine, one of the trainer, let us stay in the apartment of her brother, who was not home. So we didn’t annoy someone with our present. The seminar was the first chance after three years to meet Matsuoka Sensei again. I decided after nearly one year of rethinking, that I want to change to Shinkageryu. Now, I just needed to ask him, if it’s alright, I thought. But well, as I know Japanese people, nothing is easy. Until now, I’m still not officially a member of shinkageryu. Well, the complicated story of my trainer in hamburg doesn’t make it any easier. But I’m working on it and I started training the old forms which we got taught in the seminar and from videos I made and DVD’s I got from David, another trainer. It was really a good seminar and I got to know lots of new people. At some point me and Frank had some really orientation problems. Due to the fact, that it was night, we had no map, and I forgot my mobile phone in at the flat, we couldn’t find the right way to that flat. For a way of around 2 minutes we took 30. When we found it we were really frustrated how easy it could have been. On the way back to hamburg I used my phone to lead us from a village back to the high way.  End of the first part of my busy weeks.

summary of the last weeks

I had some stressful weeks behind me. Not that you’d think it would have to do anything with my master thesis. It was all Iaido and Jodo. Well, and a bit of Kimono in between.
First of all, there was a Iaido Seminar in Hamburg with Momiyama Sensei. Than I went to the Netherlands to attend a Shinkageryu Seminar. The Weekend after I went to Brussels for the Jodo-European Championship, just to stay there and make a week sightseeing vacation there. The Weekend after I came back there was a Iaido-Jodo-Seminar in Braunschweig with Yoshimura und René van Ammersfort. Than I had on Wednesday a meeting with Marina to dress her in my Kimono, of　course I dressed myself in Kimono as well. It was for some artist, they made an interview with her, too (cherry　blossem princess stuff) and than I drove to my parent to see them, before they got on holidays for a week. And this week I going again to Wismar to have an eye on the cat of my parents.
From tomorrow on I will post everyday( or every second day) something to the single events. This is just for you to know what will come.

Iaido-Jodo Seminar at the other side of germany

The Seminar in Villingen-Schwenningen was 4 days Seminar, with 2 days Jodo and 2 days Iaido. We started our trip on Tuesday 7o’clock and arrived at around 4o’clock in the afternoon. Villingen is quite far from Hamburg so it’s usually a very long trip. That’s the reason why it’s big thing for me and others to go there. BUT it’s definitely worth it. Three Japanese 8th Dan Iaido was there and lots of 7th and 6th Dan from all around Europe. Seeing such an assemble is great and because of so many high grates exams till 5th Dan were possible there (in Iaido). I planned to take two exams there: 1st Kyu in Jodo and 3rd Dan in Iaido. Later one was really important for me. I luckily passed all exams. *pat on my shoulder* but that’s not all. They have a kind of intern competition on which everyone takes part. I made the 3rd in the mudan group and so I was asked, if I want to go to the European Championship in Brussels. I said yes and so I’m not only going to the Championship but also planning some holiday with my good friend in Brussels. The Seminar itself was good, too. You get a lot of hints and new ideas on which to work and how to work on your technique. I meet a lot of old friends and made some new ones. Due to the information overload and the stress of the examinations I had to stop in the middle of the training. After sobbing for 20min I calmed down and was able to watch the rest of the seminar for the bench. Even so, I had a great time. But I don’t know if I can effort to go next year. ‘Cause my planes for this year a getting bigger and more expensive and on top of that I want to start the trainer license, which will mean a lot of traveling as well and more money spend.

Golden Week rief, Marlen kam

Nachdem denn die Woche endlich so gut wie vorbei war, habe ich mich an die Vorbereitungen für die Tests nach der Golden Week gemacht. Weil ich angenommen hatte, dass ich wohl in Kyoto nicht viel lernen werde. Ja und es kam leider dazu, dass ich gar nicht gelernt habe.

Kyoto war mal wieder sehr toll. Das Wetter war mittelmäßig aber für meine Pläne genau richtig.   Am ersten Tag ging es gleich zum großen Budo (jap. Kampfsport) Wettkampf. Je Näher man der Halle gekommen ist umso mehr Leute mit Hakama, Bögen oder Schwerttaschen hat man gesehen. Der Wettkampf ist ab 6.Dan aufwärts, dass heißt übersetzt ab 60 Jahren aufwärts. (Scherz) Aber die Leute die solche hohen Graduierungen haben, sind meistens schon etwas älter. Der Schnitt ist dementsprechend auch nicht mehr ganz stark. Und der Stand etwas wacklig. Bei solchen Events kommen natürlich auch Händel um ihre Waren an den Mann zu bringen. Ich habe auch ein wenig gekauft. Abends sind wir noch mit zwei Freunden von Fai yakiniku essen gegangen.

Am zweiten Tag sind wir dann zum Daigoji gefahren. Alle Japanologen erinnern sich bitte an letztes Jahr Herr Quenzers Ausflug nach Bonn. Die Tempelanlage ist wirklich schön und sehr lang, leider auch etwas teuer, weil wenn man die in 3 Teile aufgeteilten Tempel alle sehen möchte 1500Yen berappen muss. Oder einzeln 600Yen. Den 3ten Teil haben wir uns nicht mehr angeschaut, weil wir dann schon recht müde waren. Insgesamt war es wirklich schön aber leider muss ich sagen habe ich auch viel zu viel gegessen. Ich glaube die Hälfte von meinem Budget ging für Essen drauf, weil nur Auswärts gegessen haben. Aber lecker war es immer.

Dann kamen auch schon die Prüfungen einen Tag nach meiner Rückkehr. Ich habe so viel und gelernt wie möglich und denke die meisten sind auch recht gut ausgefallen. Es waren 5 Prüfungen. Kultur, Lektüre, Aufsatz, Konversation,  Schreibübungen(o. so ä.). Ein paar Ergebnisse habe ich auch schon bekommen. Kultur natürlich A, so wie es sich auch gehört. Schreibübung ein B und Lektüre 58%… ja ist net so dolle ich weiß.

Heute war die Abschluss Zeremonie. Wir haben alle unsere Dokumente erhalten und dürfen dann ab Heute auch verschwinden. Der Erste flog heute schon… einige Leute haben es echt eilig. Die Zeremonie war an sich wie die Anfangszeremonie. Nur irgendwie trauriger. Einige haben auch geweint. Und es wurden unendlich viele Fotos gemacht. Irgendwie ist schon seit letzter Woche so eine komische Stimmung hier im Haus. So ein es ist vorbei Gefühl. Ich werde aber noch einen Monat hier bleiben also versuche ich dieses Gefühl nicht so schnell aufkommen zulassen. Ich habe mir auch schon ein paar Pläne gegen Langeweile zu recht gelegt. Dass die gar nicht erst aufkommt. Aber sehr viel wird in den nächsten Wochen denke ich, nicht passieren. Aber ich werde wohl mal öfters einen aus Langerweile einen Beitrag hinterlassen.

Wochenenden im April

So es wird mal wieder Zeit für einen neuen Eintrag. Wir fangen mal beim Ende des letzten Beitrages an. In der folgenden Woche haben wir vom Kulturkurs aus Sushi gemacht. Alle zusammen in unserer Küche im Wohnheim. Es war ein ziemliches Durcheinander aber es hat auch Spaß gemacht. Leider habe ich dann auch viel zu viel gegessen, obwohl ich noch etwas über gehabt habe was es dann zum Abendbrot gab.

An dem Wochenende ging es dann auch schon zum lang erwarteten Iaido-Wettkampf nach Nara. Leider musste ich schon um 4 Uhr auf stehen da ich um 4.45Uhr abgeholt wurde. Wir sind dann alle zusammen ( 5 Leute) mit einem Auto dahin gefahren. Wir waren dann auch etwas zu früh dort aber noch angemessen. Dort habe ich dann die Verkäuferin aus den Iaido-Shop in Kyoto wieder getroffen, weil sie sich dann doch entschieden hatte am Wettkampf teilzunehmen. Von unserem Dojo kam Einer eine Runde weiter und Eine hat eine Sonderauszeichnung bekommen. Ich bin leer ausgegangen, aber es war schon interessant zu sehen. Musste leider auch etwas lernen, weil in der Woche Tests anstanden.

Am Montag hatte dann auch noch eine gute Freundin Geburtstag für die ich dann noch schnellst möglich einen Kuchen gebacken hatte. Der ist sogar recht gut geworden… leider ist dabei zu viel Sahne übrig geblieben. Die habe ich dann selber auf gegessen. Ihr glaubt gar nicht wie schlecht mir war danach.  Aber schön war es. Wir sind Essen gegangen und hatten den Kuchen dort mit hingenommen.

Das darauf folgende Wochenende (18/19.4) hatte mich der Hausverwalter gefragt, ob ich bei einem kleinen Event im Haus nicht Iaido vorführen könnte. Ich konnte da drauf auch nicht wirklich mit nein Antworten. Also habe ich so gut es ging ein paar Übungen gezeigt. Danach gab es dann noch das Frühlingsessen Bambussprossenreis. Da blieb dann so viel übrig, dass ich mir einen Vorrat für den nächsten Wochen angelegt habe. Mein Gefrierfach ist nun voll mit Boxen mit diesem Reis. Leider gibt es dazu keine Fotos, weil von meinen Freunden keiner da war. Haben alle noch geschlafen… faule Leute.

Diese Woche stand dann die Hochzeit von einer unserer Lehrerinnen an. Sie hatte uns eingeladen an der Zeremonieteilzunehmen. In meiner Klasse ist sie die Hauptlehrerin, weshalb wir natürlich gerne hingegangen sind. Es war wirklich nett, in einer kleinen Kirche in Nagoya. Aber auch schnell zu Ende und bei der restlichen Feier haben wir Studenten ja auch nichts verloren. Ihr Mann spricht übrigens etwas Deutsch mit einer sehr guten Aussprache.

Ja in der Woche passiert bei mir eher weniger. Der Plan für nächste Woche ist, weil langes Wochenende (5Tage frei) ist, nach Kyoto mir einen großen Budo Wettkampf anschauen und meinen besten Freund zu besuchen. Und leider auch lernen, weil ich direkt danach meine Abschlusstests habe. Ab 15.5 ist dann auch mein Studienjahr vorbei und die Ferien fangen an. Den letzten Test habe ich aber schon am 12.5. Da werde ich dann seeeeeeehr viel Zeit haben.
